I-465 Eastbound Changing Traffic Pattern:

Progress on I-69 Finish Line continues. Over the weekend, a new traffic pattern shifted lanes of I-465 eastbound to allow contractors to begin removing pavement and moving median barrier wall. The new configuration splits three lanes on I-465 eastbound between Kentucky Avenue and the White River Bridge, moving two lanes to the south of a barrier wall and one lane to the north. To exit onto Harding Street, drivers should stay in the far-right lane, starting near the I-70 interchange. This will allow advanced lane movements and a safe exit onto Harding Street.

I-465 Lane Closures/Stoppages:

  • On Friday, May 17, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the on-ramp from Kentucky Avenue to westbound I-465 will be closed to position construction equipment for bridge work. This work is weather dependent, and the closure may extend into Saturday, May 18, if work cannot be completed during a single night.
  • Nightly double-lane closures and intermittent 20-minute stoppages are expected at various locations on I-465 eastbound and westbound between I-65 and I-70 the evenings of Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17. Closures and stoppages are expected between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for pavement upgrades, overhead sign structure installation, and grading activities.
  • The southbound US 31/East Street ramp to I-465 westbound will remain closed into summer.

Lane Restrictions:

  • There will be active flagging crews on northbound and southbound I-69 between Morgan Street and SR 144 on Monday, May 13, through Sunday, May 19, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. to install pavement markings.
  • Expect daytime single-lane closures eastbound and westbound on Smith Valley Road between SR 37 and Mullinix Road from Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for minor concrete patching and concrete staining work.
  • Expect daytime single-lane closures eastbound and westbound on SR 144 between Old SR 37 and Eastern Service Road from Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for minor concrete patching and concrete staining work.
  • Expect daytime intermittent single-lane closures on northbound I-69 beginning just north of Stotts Creek and continuing for two miles through Friday, May 24, as construction equipment is moved from the area.
  • The SR 144 bridge over the White River will be restricted to one lane through November. Traffic will be controlled with a temporary signal that will be on a 4-minute-and-15 second cycle due to the length of the bridge. This INDOT project is separate from I-69 Finish Line.
