Exciting news! The flyover bridge that will eventually route millions of vehicles from I-69 northbound to I-465 westbound is a step closer to completion following a deck pour over the weekend. Once operational, it will significantly improve traffic flow. One of the largest within the new I-69/I-465 interchange, the bridge spans approximately 714 feet and required approximately 972 cubic yards of concrete to complete the deck. When this connection is complete, I-69 will offer a continuous route from Evansville to Indianapolis, covering a total of 142 miles.
The entire system interchange, including the I-69 corridor between Martinsville and Indianapolis, is on schedule to open to traffic by the end of 2024. As America’s newest interstate, it will serve as a catalyst for economic development in central Indiana and facilitate travel to and from Indianapolis and points beyond for years to come. Every milestone brings us closer to the finish line!
