Southport Road traffic to shift on Saturday west of S.R. 37
INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 28, 2022) – Pavement grooving and grinding is expected to close the northbound State Road 37 exit ramp to County Line Road temporarily on Friday and Saturday nights, Oct. 28-29. The work is expected to occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night.
The detour follows Fairview Road and County Road 500 West/Morgantown Road. Pavement grooving and grinding improves stopping distances, provides a smoother ride and assists with storm drainage.
Southport Road
On Saturday, Oct. 28, road crews plan to shift Southport Road traffic west of S.R. 37. The traffic shift helps crews prepare for opening the Southport Road bridge over the future I-69 next month.
Work is expected to begin early Saturday morning and be completed by the afternoon. During the traffic shift on Saturday, Southport Road access to and from Wellingshire Boulevard, the realigned Belmont Avenue, Governors Pointe Boulevard and Zophei Baptist Church will be right-in right-out only.

About I-69 Finish Line
I-69 Finish Line is the sixth and final section of the Interstate 69 connection between Evansville and Indianapolis. The project will upgrade the existing S.R. 37 to interstate standards between Martinsville and Indianapolis.
Governor Eric Holcomb’s Next Level Connections program fully funded the project and accelerated construction by three years. I-69 Finish Line is expected to open to traffic in late 2024, improving safety and reducing travel time.
