INDIANAPOLIS (June 3, 2022) – I-69 Finish Line contractors expect to replace the Mann Road bridge over I-465 and shift northbound State Road 37 traffic in Marion County starting this weekend.

Mann Road

The bridge replacement work is scheduled to close Mann Road between the I-465 ramps starting on or after midday Sunday, June 5, for up to four months. The detour will follow Thompson Road, High School Road and S.R. 67/Kentucky Avenue.

The I-465 westbound exit ramp will remain open to northbound Mann Road, and the I-465 on ramp will remain open from Thompson Road and northbound Mann Road. Ramp traffic will not be able to cross I-465 and should expect construction delays in the area.

I-465 motorists should continue to expect nighttime lane closures and traffic stoppages between S.R. 67/Kentucky Avenue and South Madison Avenue for bridge replacement work and removal of the center median barrier. One lane may be closed in each direction after 9 p.m. and two lanes may be closed after 11 p.m. with 20-minute traffic stoppages. All six lanes of I-465 must be reopened for the weekday morning commute.

Northbound S.R. 37

S.R. 37 will no longer stop at Wicker Road and County Line Road on or after Friday night, June 3, and the traffic signals will be permanently removed.

Southbound traffic was shifted to the first new portion of I-69 in Marion County on Wednesday. Northbound traffic will soon share the elevated pavement and bridges, with temporary barriers separating two-way traffic.

After the traffic shift planned overnight tonight, local access points to and from S.R. 37 northbound in this area will be at the Fairview Road and Southport Road traffic signals. Click here to read about the new southbound S.R. 37 entrance and exit ramps that provide access to Wicker Road.

County Line Road closure

Construction crews are realigning County Line Road slightly north and building a large roundabout to connect with Bluff Road and the future I-69 northbound entrance and exit ramps. S.R. 37 access to County Line Road and Bluff Road east of the highway is expected to close temporarily for about two months.

C.R. 144 to close east of S.R. 37 for interchange modifications

Additional two-week closure for local repairs

Johnson County, Ind. (June 16, 2022) – County Road 144 east of State Road 37 is expected to close on or after 7 a.m.  Monday, June 20 for up to four weeks for I-69 Finish Line drainage structure replacement and interchange modifications.

C.R. 144 will not be accessible from either northbound or southbound S.R. 37.  There will be no access to the Eastern Service Road from C.R. 144 during the four-week closure.

During the closure, westbound traffic should use S.R. 135 to Smith Valley Road to S.R. 37 to S.R. 144. Eastbound traffic should use S.R. 37 to Smith Valley Road to S.R. 135 to C.R. 144 in Bargersville.

Motorists can also access S.R. 37 from the Whiteland Road/C.R. 144 roundabout by following Whiteland Road to Banta Road to the signal at S.R. 37.

An additional two-week closure is expected for the Johnson County Highway Department to replace three drainage culverts along C.R. 144 between S.R. 37 and Smokey Row Road. Details about the sequence of the county closures will be available within the next few weeks.

Belmont Avenue

Motorists using South Belmont Avenue between Banta and Southport roads will shift to a new section of pavement as early as tomorrow morning. The new access road will realign just south of the Light House Landing apartments and connect with Southport Road west of the previous access points, which will be closed off.

Access to local businesses will be provided off the new section of Belmont Avenue by way of a small temporary driveway on the northwest side of the Between the Bun and Anytime Fitness parking lot. Once the new Belmont Avenue is open, the entrance and exit of Southern Dunes apartments at Wellingshire Boulevard will shift slightly to the west to allow for reconstruction of the entrance. Both Wellingshire and Belmont will have temporary Stop signs at Southport Road. In its final configuration this will be a signalized intersection.

Bluffdale Drive

I-69 Finish Line Crews expect to open the Bluffdale Drive extension west of State Road 37 to connect Bluffdale Drive to Fairview Road as early as Monday.

Once open, Smith Valley Road west of S.R. 37 will close to begin building the new and improved I-69 ramps and interchange systems. Click here to see a side-by-side map of the changing traffic patterns on Smith Valley Road and Bluffdale Drive.

Motorists traveling northbound on Old S.R. 37 and eastbound on Smith Valley Road will use the new extension to gain access to S.R. 37 at the Fairview Road intersection. Westbound traffic will follow Old S.R. 37 to Huggin Hollow to the south.

Access to the Center Grove baseball diamonds will change as Knights Drive will only be accessible by the new Bluffdale Drive.

Motorists will note the temporary crushed stone road at the Old S.R. 37, Smith Valley Road, and Bluffdale Drive roundabout has been replaced with a new layer of asphalt pavement.
