MARION COUNTY (Jan. 14, 2021) – The Madison Avenue and Mooresville Road Bypass bridges over I-465 on the south side of Indianapolis are expected to close next month. The bridges are expected to close for replacement in mid- to late February.

The Madison Avenue bridge is expected to be closed for just over six months. The Mooresville Road Bypass bridge is scheduled to close for about three months. For schedule updates, visit I69FinishLine.com to sign up for project updates or follow I-69 Finish Line on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Both bridges will be demolished and fully reconstructed during the closures. The Madison Avenue detour will follow Thompson Road, Keystone Avenue and Hanna Avenue. The Mooresville Road Bypass detour will follow Mann Road, Thompson Road and High School Road. Signage is being posted to alert drivers of the extended closures.

When work begins, I-465 traffic should expect nighttime lane closures and 20-minute traffic stoppages between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. No demolition work will happen over live traffic.

About I-69 Finish Line
I-69 Finish Line is the sixth and final section of the Interstate 69 connection between Evansville and Indianapolis. The project will upgrade the existing S.R. 37 to interstate standards between Martinsville and Indianapolis.

Governor Eric Holcomb’s Next Level Connections program fully funded the project and accelerated construction by three years. I-69 Finish Line is expected to open to traffic in late 2024, improving safety and reducing travel time.
