MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. (Sept. 11, 2020) – Drivers should slow down and watch for temporary daytime lane closures starting next week on State Road 37 from Martinsville to S.R. 144. I-69 Finish Line contractors will be paving the road and strengthening the northbound shoulder.

Signage and orange barrels will be set up early next week. Temporary daytime lane closures are expected to begin by Wednesday.

S.R. 37 northbound lane closures will begin after 9 a.m. each day and could extend for up to a mile. S.R. 37 southbound lane closures will be shorter in length and should be complete by 4 p.m. each day.

The paving work is expected to continue into the fall. Police are enforcing a reduced speed limit of 45 MPH for the safety of both motorists and highway workers.

Starting next year, S.R. 37 will be reduced to two lanes – one in each direction – between S.R. 144 and Morgan Street in Martinsville. Traffic will be shifted to one side of the highway while crews build the new I-69 lanes on the other side.
