On Track Project Update: March 6, 2023

Share

Weekend lane restrictions on westbound I-465 are currently scheduled to begin Friday, March 10, weather permitting. Crews will be working this week to prepare for the restrictions by paving and strengthening inside shoulders. Three-to-four days of drier, milder weather are needed for asphalt paving.

Restrictions are scheduled to begin Friday evening on I-465 westbound around 8 p.m. Traffic will be limited to a single lane. Construction crews will shift the westbound lanes to the north onto temporary pavement in preparation for the I-465 eastbound shift later in the month.

To ease congestion and keep traffic moving during these restrictions, several westbound entrance ramps onto I-465 are expected to close. From Friday 8 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m. access to I-465 westbound from I-65 southbound, I-65 northbound, U.S. 31 southbound, U.S. 31 northbound, and State Road 37/Harding Street will be closed.

Visuals of the two weekends of lane restrictions and ramp closures are available here.

  • An additional lane closure is required this week for the upcoming weekend restrictions as paving crews apply temporary pavement and strengthen the shoulders on I-465 westbound between I-65 and I-70.
  • A temporary left lane closure on eastbound I-465 from Kentucky Avenue to Mann Road is expected as crews install a new traffic camera. Click here to view live traffic video feeds across the I-69 Finish Line project.
  • Drainage work is expected to being as weather permits at the entrance of the Governors Pointe neighborhood. Motorists entering and exiting the neighborhood should be alert for flaggers as crews install a temporary crushed stone driving surface.
  • Be aware of work taking place at Peterman road as part of a Johnson County project located east of I-69 project limits. Click here to learn more about the neighboring project.

The actual starting date and duration for work and any closures may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
