Looking ahead to the 2023 construction season

Projects as complex as I-69 Finish Line don’t have much down time.  Even during winter months crews are busy moving earth, driving piles for bridges, relocating utilities and filling potholes.  But the pace and volume of activity will pick up in March when temperatures start to moderate and asphalt plants reopen after winter maintenance.

The 2023 I-69 Finish Line Construction Guide provides an overview of work crews will undertake and milestones that will be reached this construction season.  Please read through both pages to get an overall feel for which roadway segments and interchanges will be under active construction this year.

And while the Construction Guide provides a general outline of what will be built, the best way to stay on top of when and where things are happening, especially those that will impact traffic, is through the project’s social media channels on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.  Be sure to follow I-69 Finish Line today..

  • Finish Line crews are expected to continue median work along I-465. Motorists should expect daily single-lane restrictions and nightly double-lane closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. between I-65 and  to I-70.
  • Construction crews anticipate a multiphase traffic shift on I-465 beginning in early March. With more details to come be sure to follow our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts and visit I-69FinishLine.com to stay up to date.
  • As temperatures continue to fluctuate and potholes begin popping up, motorists are encouraged to inform road crews of potential areas of concern by using INDOT4U. Call 1-855-INDOT4U (1-855-463-6848) or visit www.indot4u.com.
  • Motorists in Johnson County should expect a left lane closure on southbound S.R. 37 on Tuesday as crews continue to replace cable barriers.
  • Watch for crews on the shoulders of I-69 and S.R. 37 as crews perform finishing touches in Johnson and Morgan counties. Be sure to slow down, move over and drive distraction free.

The actual starting date and duration for work and any closures may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
