On Track Project Update: April 3, 2023

Share

Thanks to motorists for your patience this past weekend as crews safely moved eastbound traffic onto the westbound lanes of I-465.  The traffic shift opens up a nearly five-mile stretch of empty roadway and demolition work has already begun.

Crews were in place early this morning to start demolition of the I-465 bridge over the White River and removal of adjacent pavement. While demo activity in these eastbound lanes won’t impact traffic, it will be visible and potentially distracting, so drivers are reminded to stay alert and encouraged to keep their eyes on the road.

Once the White River bridge has been removed, demolition crews will move east to Harding Street, where the removal of the I-465 bridges over Harding will impact traffic. On or after April 14, multiple lanes of Harding Street will be closed to give crews access to the center pier for demolition and reconstruction.

Motorists should expect increased congestion once lane closures are in place and are encouraged to use an alternate route if possible. More details will be shared regarding restrictions and timeline. Follow I-69 Finish Line on social media for the latest updates.

  • Intermittent nighttime closures will occur later this week into early next week related to work on existing structures, such as overhead lights, cantilever signs, and ramp roads.
  • In Morgan County, motorists should expect a single-lane closure in the southbound lanes of I-69 near Crooked Creek as crews will be working in the median. Additionally, seasonal “punch list” activities are in full swing that include cable barrier maintenance, grass seeding and landscape plantings.

The actual starting date and duration for work and any closures may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
