Banta Road, Concord Street detour to remain into next year

INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 30, 2022) – Construction of a future I-69 interchange is expected to close Epler Avenue west of State Road 37 starting Sunday, Oct. 2.

The closure is expected to remain in place into next year. The detour follows Banta Road and Concord Street.

The Epler Avenue closure begins west of Belmont Avenue. Local traffic is encouraged to access Belmont Avenue from Epler Avenue to the north or the realigned Southport Road intersection to the south. The Edgewood Avenue intersection at S.R. 37 closed in March.

When construction is completed, the future I-69 lanes will split off from the existing S.R. 37 north of Edgewood Avenue. A partial interchange will provide a southbound entrance ramp onto I-69 and a northbound exit ramp to Epler Avenue and Harding Street. Utility crews have been working in the area for months to install new service lines and clear the path for construction. The next step is earthwork to replace unsuitable soils.

About I-69 Finish Line
I-69 Finish Line is the sixth and final section of the Interstate 69 connection between Evansville and Indianapolis. The project will upgrade the existing S.R. 37 to interstate standards between Martinsville and Indianapolis.

Governor Eric Holcomb’s Next Level Connections program fully funded the project and accelerated construction by three years. I-69 Finish Line is expected to open to traffic in late 2024, improving safety and reducing travel time.
