MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (May 7, 2021) – Delivery and installation of large bridge beams over Indian Creek will close the right lane of State Road 37 northbound and require short rolling stops of traffic most of next week.

Delivery and installation are expected to occur on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The delivery route through Martinsville follows S.R. 67, S.R. 39 and I-69 to the Liberty Church Road exit, where the structural beams will be staged. The right lane of S.R. 37 northbound will be closed between Liberty Church Road and S.R. 39 on these days from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Rolling stops of up to 20 minutes each are expected to occur Tuesday through Thursday. Both directions of S.R. 37 will be stopped for short periods between 8 a.m. and 12 noon on Tuesday to move cranes  used for beam installation. Brief traffic stoppages on S.R. 37 northbound are expected between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday as beams are lifted off the truck.

Law enforcement will be assisting with traffic control and enforcing distracted driving laws and work-zone speed limits.

Additional Morgan County Traffic Information

Construction will impact state highways at other locations in Morgan County in the coming weeks.

  • Crews plan to install a drain inlet and pipe late next week along the S.R. 39 bypass at the Circle K. The right merge lane of northbound S.R. 39 will be closed for two days between Morgan Street and the Circle K.
  • Crews are scheduled to set beams at the new I-69 bridge over S.R. 39 the week of May 17. Watch for additional information regarding beam delivery and lane closures closer to date.
  • S.R. 252 traffic is expected to be shifted on or after May 17 near the S.R. 37 work zone. This will allow crews to build new roundabouts at Cramertown Loop and the I-69 entrance and exit ramps.

About I-69 Finish Line
I-69 Finish Line is the sixth and final section of the Interstate 69 connection between Evansville and Indianapolis. The project will upgrade the existing S.R. 37 to interstate standards between Martinsville and Indianapolis.

Governor Eric Holcomb’s Next Level Connections program fully funded the project and accelerated construction by three years. I-69 Finish Line is expected to open to traffic in late 2024, improving safety and reducing travel time.
